Been there and Dunnet!

I'm back from a refreshing two and a half week trip to Scotland. It was action-packed with the Orkney Folk Festival (John Doyle! Jim Malcolm! The Poozies!), driving the NC500, Hebrides-hopping, AND potato and haddock bingeing (I ate ALL the potatoes!) Our rental car odometer revealed 1530 miles of driving!

IT WAS A WHIRLWIND, but it was beautiful and despite rain most of the days we traveled, we visited Dunnet Head - the most northerly point in Scotland - hiked in Glen Affric, the Fortrose Fairy Glen, the Glen Nevis Gorge, the Quiraing on Skye, wandered the Callanish Stones on Lewis, and walked in Harris, where we also bought - you guessed it - Harris Tweed. (By the way, to be called Harris Tweed, it must be hand-loomed in the Outer Hebrides, and when you buy yardage, you receive official labels to sew into your garments!)
