WHO KNOWS WHERE THE TIME GOES?

April passed by with breakneck speed, and now I've missed May as well! I endeavor to write my newsletter/blog faithfully, but I just couldn't find time to do the writing — though I did plenty of work: in my garden (admire those fine roses, for example), for the Freight & Salvage and Lark Traditional Arts. Life is revving up. The Freight (where I'm a nonprofit board member) is beginning to feel hopeful about opening its doors, though exactly when is still uncertain. (Maybe mid-August?) I'm wearing multiple hats for Lark Camp, and am in the throes of programming the instructors for our Lark Camp Online that will be from August 4 - 8. Plus, it appears I have a calling gig for a wedding in September for a fully vaccinated group and I've been invited to participate in The Story Circle group, an online storytellers venue via Zoom organized by Bowen Lee, who I know from Contra dances. I'll be singing a couple of "story songs" and will then teach a round that participants can sing together. The event will be from 7 - 8:30 on Friday, June 18 and you can find out how to join the Zoom event on The Story Circle website. These things make me SO HAPPY!

There's a lot of other stuff going on, too – inevitable changes that come as everyone gets vaccinated and fears about the pandemic begin to lessen. My son's friend who has been living with us during the pandemic just had open heart surgery to correct a congenital heart problem. (He's doing fine, by the way!) My son is here minding that surgical recovery and considering his next steps. My daughter has stored her belongings so she can rent her house and hit the road to see more of the US. She'll be WWOOFing – working on organic farms – so she'll have various work gigs, visit pals in other states and try on a few other places where she might be happy to land. And Maggie is growing up and learning to dig VERY BIG HOLES!

Practicing for flight to Denver to visit my sister in July…think I’ll make it?

I'm sure many people are shifting gears. Traveling looks to be in the cards for some (I'm going to fly to Denver to see my sister! Look – I'm practicing!) and who can blame anyone for wanting to get away from home just now. Most of all, it looks likely that we'll be able to spend the next several months relaxing our anxiety about contagion, and relearning how to be together. I, for one, have EATEN OUT SEVERAL times, and have been bear-hugging my vaccinated friends, and boy – that feels great! Hope you are all able to enjoy some of that good stuff, too!
